This is how i integrate my past, and live my present

I have created a gauze garment of safety pins, used audio tape and money from different cultures. . Each safety pin is attached to another and the tape is woven not sewn, to remind me that every part of my life is interconnected and safe to feel not static. In this way, i feel safe to remember what was lost, and now found in remembering.  The safety pins are my signature symbol to ensure safety.  The money from various cultures is shown as the way in which i have been a steward as a woman who walks with class privilege.

I live with a learning disability resulting from Childhood Sexual Abuse and Violence. Both long and short term memory pose some challenges for me, and my accommodation has been to use a tape recorder to ensure that i do not forget it’s the tone and subject matter of what is being shared.  This has been a reflective process for me.
Remembering reminds me to hear my own voice, the voices of others and to transform my past and be present in the life i am currently living.
